Towards a Better Understanding of Social Acculturation: International Students in British EAP Universities

This study explores the role of social acculturation (social and cultural adaptation to university life in outside classroom) a British EAP (English for Academic Purposes) classroom setting situate this within broader debates about complex relationship between concepts language culture. It argues that, with its overall focus on academic disciplinary acculturation, pedagogic practices can overlook dimension which is also an equally important skill students’ learning. For theoretical framework, paper presents review literature that considers significance intercultural competence curriculum. Drawing body as methodology, proposes such Intercultural Approach Sheltered Instruction be implemented seminar classes develop international students' acculturation. The genre suggested students practice process hence improve their competence. because seminars provide effective prepare new environment, allow them interact each other - well linguistic skills.
